The Reason Why The Ball Screw Can Not Be Self-locking

Today we will talk about the reasons why the ball screw cannot self-lock. How should it be avoided? Come on, follow the steps of the editor and look down together!

First, due to the high transmission efficiency, the ball screw pair cannot be self-locking. When used for vertical transmission, if the weight of the components is unbalanced, the reversal caused by the weight of the components must be prevented when the transmission stops or the motor is powered off. Anti-reverse rotation can be an overrunning clutch or a drive motor that cannot be reversed, or a transmission that cannot be reversed (such as a self-locking worm drive) or an electromagnetic or hydraulic brake. At present, there are professional processing factories in China to produce various overrunning clutches suitable for preventing the reverse rotation of the ball screw pair.

The ball screw has high transmission efficiency, cannot self-lock, and needs weight balance.

Typical one-way overrunning clutch structure. When the star wheel (inner ring) has a tendency to turn clockwise (i.e. reverse direction), if a suitable resistance torque is applied to the outer ring to make it larger than the reverse torque, the ball screw installed with the inner ring can be prevented from turning clockwise Rotate, only allow the lead screw to rotate counter-clockwise. In order to prevent the two-way reversal of the screw pair, the available friction plate and one-way clutch act as a brake to prevent the screw nut from moving downward.

The above is the reason why the ball screw cannot be self-locking, I hope it will be helpful to everyone!
