Linear Motion Bearing LME

Steel

Bronze
Bronze, an alloy primarily composed of copper and zinc with additives like manganese and phosphorus, is a soft metal with a higher load capacity than plastic. However, the metal-to-metal contact in bronze bearings generates more friction than in plastic bearings, necessitating proper lubrication maintenance.

Ceramics
Ceramic linear bearings are usually made from materials such as silicon nitride, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and silicon carbide. They are characterized by high rigidity, which maintains travel accuracy and precision at high speeds. Their high hardness increases service life and abrasion resistance, while reducing particle generation from component sliding. Ceramics are also compatible with vacuum and ESD-sensitive environments.

Composite Materials
Composite bearings consist of a metal backing combined with a plastic sleeve or a PTFE liner. The polymer component prevents metal-to-metal contact, lowering the coefficient of friction while maintaining high load capacity. The metal backing helps in dissipating heat, enhancing the bearing's performance.
