Description

Rod end bearing vibration is sensitive to damage to rod end bearings, such as spalling, indentation, corrosion, cracking, put on etc. This is reflected in rod end bearing vibration measurements. Therefore, by using special rod end bearing vibration measuring devices (frequency analysers etc.) the magnitude of the vibration can be measured, and the genuine nature of the abnormality can't be deduced from the frequency division. The measured values vary depending on the conditions of use of the rod end spherical joint bearing or the location of the sensor, so it is integral to analyse and examine the measured values for every machine beforehand to determine the criteria for judgement.

Rod end bearing consist of an eye-shaped head with integral shank forming a housing and a standard spherical plain bearing, or a spherical simple bearing inner ring, or a spherical simple bearing inner ring and a sliding layer between the bore of the head and the indoors ring. As a rule, rod ends are on hand with left or right-hand female or male threads. Rod ends have the sliding contact surface combinations steel-on-steel, steel-on-bronze, steel-on-PTFE composite material, steel-on-PTFE fabric and steel-on-PTFE plastic.
